Areas of Expertise

Meniscus Tears

When torn, these soft tissue bumpers in your knee can be painful and result in knee swelling and locking. Although it is a common injury, this doesn't mean that it should be neglected.

Knee Dislocations

These often traumatic and complex injuries can leave the knee very unstable and should be managed by knee professionals. Urgent evaluation is imperative.

Arthritis

When the cartilage in the knee wears out, arthritis develops which is quite painful, debilitating, but can be successfully treated in the right hands with a knee replacement.

PERIPROSTHETIC FRACTURES

Rarely, the bones around a knee replacement can break, and this can result in loosening of the components. This is a complex surgical problem that is best managed with a surgeon with specialized  training.

ACL Tears

This stabilizing structure in your knee can be torn and result in swelling, pain, and continued instability if not managed appropriately. It is also associated with meniscus tears.

Kneecap instability

This debilitating condition exists when the kneecap (patella) moves to the outside of the knee too much and can cause knee pain and damage to the cartilage.

Painful Knee Replacements

Unfortunately, some knee replacements do not do well and cause continued knee pain. An expert evaluation and management can sometimes fix this debilitating problem.

Nonunions

Most fractures heal uneventfully, but sometimes the bone does not heal and results in a nonunion. Treatment of these is complicated and requires an experienced surgeon.

Other Ligament Injuries

In addition to the ACL, less commonly the PCL, MCL, or LCL can be torn and must be diagnosed and treated with experienced hands. Luckily, these are less likely to need surgery.

Cartilage Injuries

Cartilage is one of the most important structures in the knee, and successful preservation and treatment of this is paramount to good knee long term function.

Infected knee Replacements

Did your knee replacement become infected? This can be an extremely challenging problem to treat and is best managed by an expert in this field to hopefully cure the infection.

Malunions

After a fracture, the bone can heal in an abnormal orientation, and this can result in pain and disability. Similar to nonunions, this is a very complex problem and should be treated by a surgeon experienced with this issue.

I visited Dr. Fox to address ongoing pain in both knees. He was very thorough, took x-rays of both knees, and took the time to listen to and address my concerns. I did not feel rushed at all. The office staff was pleasant as well. I definitely recommend Dr. Fox to anyone with joint issues.
